72. Lost Higway
David Lynch month continues with arguably his most challenging work. I don’t know how much I want to write about it due to the fact I will most likely confuse myself in the process, it’s a film that splits Lynch fans down the middle and I am 100% certain Lynch throws some things into the film just to fuck with you.
The key to the film is remembering what Fred says whilst the...

71. La polizia incrimina la legge assolve (High...
Most peoples go to film for poliziotteschi and it really is a good film. Adding emotional elements to your average crime film, it tells the tale of one cops struggle against an International drug ring.
Castellari’s films go one way or another, luckily this is on the right side of exploitation and provides the usual nasty moments along with the token poliziotteschi child death.
For a film...

70. Die Hard With A Vengeance
Way to round off the trilogy perfectly (Four never happened) I may write a bit on the three films at some point in the future, also have you ever noticed how all it takes to get McLane back on his feet again is a wipe of his brow. Magician

Or Bruce Willis takes on Franco Nero and wins. Rehasing Die Hard one but it works so well. John McLane really likes killing folk

67. Die Hard
A nice twenty year old print of Die Hard on a Monday night is nothing to sniff at. The perfect action film.

66. Blue Velvet
Not sure what I can say about this film that hasn’t already been said. It’s a masterpiece, a stone cold classic and has reignited my love affair with David Lynch. Next up Lost Highway and Mulholland Drive

65. Italia a mano armata (A Special Cop In Action)
The third and final Commissioner Betti film from Marino Girolami. I said the stunts in Violent Naples were good but the roof top chase in this tops them all, a real fitting finish to the Betti character.
Thanks to Giallo fever for the screenshots.

64. The Cabin In The Woods
Not sure what I can say about this without spoiling the shit out of it. Good, fresh, funny spin on the horror genre and it’s stereotypes. By no means will it change the future of horror as it is a complete one off and for a horror film lacks what a horror film should have………the scare.

If/when I have kids I will raise them on a steady diet of Joe Dante, well bar Piranaha.

61. Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2
Not a bad follow up seeing as it was twelve years after the original. Great opening sequence, some quality gore, over the top screaming and a pretty disgusting performance from Bill Moseley.
Tober Hooper had to cut a pretty good sounding scene out due to pacing issues and it makes you wonder what it would have been like with said scene involved as the pacing of the film in general drags like...

59. God Bless America
So much promise let down by too many opinions. Bobcat Goldthwait is an incredibly unique and controversial director and his messages are clear in his film making, however God Bless America is one giant fuck you that loses its way big time during the third act.
It’s definitely worth a re watch at some point as it has some genuinely brilliant scenes but overall came across as a tad bit...

58. Video Nasties : Moral Panic, Censorship and...
My god this was boring, I am yet to see a really good, definitive documentary on the video nasty phenomenon and this was by far the worst yet. Not enough time was spent talking to the horror film experts about their experiences and made them out to be more anecdotes than factual information. The “fake” tracking was a pain in the arse and the whole documentary seemed to be an advert for...

57. Napoli Violenta
My second Commissioner Betti film and it was so much better than Violent Rome from the violence through to the action sequences. Some crazy, crazy stunts performed by the actual actors and it’s a miracle none of them died. John Saxon makes a welcome appearance too. A Special Cop In Action is next up to finish off the Betti trilogy.

(There’s no movie poster available for this one.)
Luigi Cozzi’s The Black Cat (aka Il Gatto Nero, aka Demons 6) is a kind of unofficial sequel to Dario Argento’s Suspiria and Inferno. It’s about the goddess Levana, who’s apparently one of the three mothers, although the actual mythology suggests…
Can’t agree with the three mothers statement. Inferno is a...

56. Scott Walker 30 Century Man
As far as modern singer songwriters go the term “genius” gets thrown about far too much. Any album that has a hint of nostalgia gets praised to the high heavens and then subsequently disappears into obscurity. Scott Walker is a man who’s genius allows him to dip in and out of the wilderness, creating foreboding modern masterpieces of the pop song.
From his time in The Walker...

The film that spawned the Italian poliziotteschi genre and my god do I love it for that. The Dirty Harry collection is my next box set challenge.

Lisztomania levels of insanity, I just can’t imagine seeing De Palma behind the camera on this one. Not a fan of musicals but loved it.

53. Exorcist III
If it wasn’t for the absolute horseshit yet bonkers Exorcist II this would have carried on the originals legacy perfectly. A truly terrifying philosophical look at heaven, hell, serial killers and redemption. Wonderful film
